FIA 8877-2022 Karting Gloves: What It Means
If your championship asks for “FIA approved” karting gloves, this is the standard it means. Here is what FIA 8877-2022 is, how to recognise a homologated glove, and which of our gloves carry it.
What is FIA 8877-2022?
FIA Standard 8877-2022 is the FIA’s standard for protective clothing for karting competitors. It was introduced after the FIA Safety Department reviewed karting injuries and accidents, and it is the first FIA karting standard that covers gloves and shoes, in addition to suits. It sets design criteria and minimum technical and safety requirements, and products must pass a structured set of tests (including dimensions, quality and resistance) to be homologated.
For gloves there is a single level of homologation: a glove either meets the standard or it does not.
Do you need FIA 8877-2022 gloves?
Gloves and shoes homologated to FIA 8877-2022 became compulsory on 1 January 2025 for races on the FIA International Sporting Calendar. For national championships, regional series and club races the requirement depends on the rules of your federation and your event organiser, so check your series’ technical regulations before you buy. If you are unsure, contact us and we will help you find the right pair.
How to recognise a homologated glove
- A homologation label showing the standard (FIA 8877-2022), the manufacturer, the homologation number and the year of validity.
- An FIA hologram inside the cuff.
A glove marked “FIA” in a product name alone is not enough. Always look for the label and the hologram on the glove itself.

Other gloves
Our other karting gloves are not FIA 8877-2022 homologated. They are a good choice for practice days, rental karting and races whose rules do not require homologated gloves. Each product page states clearly whether a glove is homologated.
